The effects of the unsaid in the boardroom

Supervisory board members and directors are generally unaware of how ambiguous the term governance truly is. There are two complementary but contradictory views or paradigms regarding governance: the agency paradigm and the stewardship paradigm. Both are necessary for high-quality decision-making. However, conflicts in the boardroom often arise from differences in these underlying paradigms.
